Jay Electronica Reveals Album Is Completed & On Horizon

Jay Electronica’s long-awaited debut album has suffered over a decade of delays. In 40 days, the rapper may finally be ready to unleash it.

The moment Jay Electronica signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation record label in 2010, it was already predicted that the prodigy was on the fast track to becoming one of the greats in hip-hop history. A decade of delays, rumors and silence later, the New Orleans emcee has become more myth than legend.

The buzz has begun yet again early Friday morning, except this time, the source was Electronica’s very own Twitter account. In a series of tweets, Jay Electronica revealed that his debut album, titled A Written Testimony, is dropping in 40 days (March 18) and will even house a feature from HOV himself.

Almost immediately following the tweet spree, Jay-Z liked all of Electronica’s posts, potentially squashing all doubts as to whether or not the album exists and if it will ever reach our ears.

This isn’t the first time Jay Electronica has hinted at his debut album being right around the corner. In 2012, a rumored project titled Act II: Patents of Nobility (the Turn) was scheduled to be imminent, with a tracklist featuring Jay-Z and Kanye West floating around the interwebs.

Even with a few of the songs dropping on SoundCloud, the album never saw the light of day.

Even with the lack of a full-fledged project in the 2010s, Electronica never fully stepped out of the hip-hop spotlight. The rapper has been spotted on various collaborations with Jay-Z, Chance the Rapper, Dave East and Big Sean on the infamous track “Control.”
