The “Joseph’s Coat” and “Growing Pains” rapper Lexii Alijai’s family confirmed the news she died at age 21 on Facebook.
The young musician, whose real name is Alexis Alijai Lynch, died on Wednesday.
Alijai’s cause of death is still not known to the public.
“Your a real Legend if you know her or heard her music you’d feel chills. Rest in paradise you’ll never be forgotten! I’m so lost for words…my beautiful cousin with so much talent and unique soul Lexii Alijai it’s too soon,” her cousin Raeisah Clark wrote on Facebook.
The Minneapolis Police Department confirmed they found her at a local hotel where she was later pronounced dead.
Alijai collaborated with and befriended R&B singer Kehlani back in 2015. Kehlani took to Twitter with a string of tweets sharing her sentiments about the loss of the rapper.
“I’m angry I’m confused I’m heartbroken I’m angry I’m confused. I love you lexii. My baby was 21,” Kehlani tweeted.
“i keep typing and backspacing you knew what you meant to me everyone knew what you meant you were so special bro i seen you right thru it all i seen u thug it out lex imma miss you so bad you was about to get everything you always talked about RIP MY BABY I LOVE YOU LEX 4L,” the singer wrote in another tweet.
Alijai was originally from Saint Paul, Minn. and was featured on songs with other well-known rappers Drake, Meek Mill and Nas.
Alijai released her first mixtape, “Super Sweet 16s”, in 2016 in honor of her sixteenth birthday.
