Although it’s supposed to be a #Bieber2020, Roddy Ricch is showing that it’s his time to shine and he tops the Billboard charts.
Rapper Roddy Ricch tops the worldwide charts on Billboard for his song “The Box” and beats out Justin Bieber’s new release “Yummy.”
Ricch is a 21-year-old rapper from Compton, CA signed to Atlantic Records. His other notable tracks and features include his 2018 song “Die Young” as well as his contribution Nipsey Hussle’s “Racks in the Middle.”
On Dec.24 Bieber took to social media to announce his upcoming releases for 2020 deeming it #Bieber2020. His projects including the release of his single, an album release, tour and documentary series on YouTube.

Last week, fans of Bieber were flooded with posts from him on his Instagram page and story asking them to stream his new song and get it to the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
“Create a playlist with ‘Yummy’ on repeat and stream it. Don’t mute it! Play at a low volume. Let it play while you sleep,” he wrote in one message.
While many berated Bieber for his attempts to use social media to manipulate the charts, social media all but was the sole reason Ricch’s song soared on the chart.
Ricch’s hit has been featured in many memes and TikTok videos across the platform aiding in the reach of his audience.
Other songs on the Hot 100 list includes “Circles” by Post Malone, “Memories” by Maroon 5, “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi as well as “Dance Monkey” by Tones and I, “Good as Hell” by Lizzo, “Roxanne” by Arizona Zervas and “Lose You To Love Me” off of Selena Gomez’s new album “Rare.”
