Rapper and Miami native Maurice “Trick Daddy” Young is currently facing charges for possession and driving under the influence after officers pulled him over Saturday in Miami.
According to the Miami Herald, an officer found the rapper when responding to reports of a driver hitting signs and running red lights early Saturday.
The arrest affidavit said Young, told the officer he had about five drinks hours earlier at a Miami Gardens nightclub. The report also said Young had slurred speech, bloodshot, watery and glassy eyes.
Police said Young failed a field sobriety test and was taken to a station, where police found cocaine in his belongings.
Young was already wanted on a warrant for driving under the influence.
This is the first cocaine possession charged the rapper, known for hits like, “I am a Thug,” has faced in his lifetime.
Arrest reports from the past 27 years show Young’s possession history. In 1993, he was convicted of cocaine possession, carrying a concealed weapon and violating probation. He then served 15 months in the Florida state prison. In September 2003, police found cocaine and marijuana in his pocket. He pleaded guilty to cocaine and weapons charges and received probation.
His most recent arrest before this one happened on April 3, 2014. He was arrested outside of his home in Miramar after police entered his home and reportedly found one gram of cocaine in his bedroom, along with a 9mm pistol and ammunition in another bedroom.
Currently, there is no comment from Trick Daddy on his current arrest.
